Mumbai: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan hospitalised for angioplasty in Kokilaben hospital
Amitabh Bachchan undergoes angioplasty in Mumbai. Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has undergone an angioplasty procedure at Mumbai’s Kokilaben Hospital. He was reportedly hospitalized early Friday morning. An official statement from the hospital or from the family has not yet been released.
Another report by The Indian Express said that ‘doctors at Kokilaben Hospital confirmed that Amitabh Bachchan underwent an angioplasty’ at the hospital early Friday. The report added that an official statement in this regard will be ‘issued by his PR team later in the day’.
The Times of India reports that Amitabh has been released from the hospital, and that on Friday morning, an angioplasty was done on a clot in his leg rather than his heart, as other sites had said. Hindustan Times was unable to confirm these reports on its own.
Amid these health-related rumors, Amitabh tweeted on X on Friday, saying, “T 4950 – in gratitude ever.” A video promoting his Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) squad was also posted by him. A comment from Amitabh Bachchan or his family has not yet been released.
Earlier in the year, Amitabh had surgery on his wrist. He posted photos of himself with Akshay Kumar on his blog in January, captioning them, “Akshay, one of the owners (of ISPL)..and an explanation to him about the surgery on my hand.” He was wearing a sling at the time. Amitabh sustained a back injury whilst filming Kalki 2898 AD in Hyderabad in March of last year. As a result, the actor had to recuperate in bed. At that time, he had strained rib cartilage and a torn muscle. Due to medical limitations, Amitabh was unable to attend the San Diego Comic Con last year in order to promote the movie.

Upcoming work
On his blog, Amitabh revealed that he has recently completed filming Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin. As the completion of KALKI draws near, he writes, “Late nights again… but late from work last night… and as has been informed, it is May 9th for the publication… The final attempts to organize everything and deliver an experience that fulfills the creators’ vision are therefore underway.
